![]() Great little amp and I've gigged in small venues with it. It's all subjective, I don't know if anyone esle would agree, but, my personal opinion, that amp takes pedals better than any amp I've owned. Location: brazil Re: Vox Pathfinder 15 vs 15R, or what else by aliendawg Wed 4:18 pm PF15r owner here. I like the way all of my dirt pedals sound through it. I don't have the 15R, but the one without reverb. My main amps are a Princeton and a Deluxe Reverb but the Pathfinder is still way up on my list. I've read that Petty used a Daddy-O into his Vox a lot. I've had an AD15VT, AD30VT, AD50VT and a DA5.none compare to the Pathfinder. My favorite overdrive for playing along with a favorite old rock album like Bowie/Ziggy Stardust is my BBE GreenScreamer. It's a $129 amp and a $160 bottom and it will shake your pants. I think I paid $160 with shipping on ebay. The Carvin 2 x 12 cab sells new for about $225. The VOX footswitch gives the Trem and Boost. 1 Amplifier Vox Pathfinder 10 2 Amplifier Vox AC15 C1 3 Amplifier Vox VT20X 4 Amplifier Vox Adio Air GT 5 Amplifier Vox VT40X 6 Amplifier Vox AC30 C2 7. Compression, Delay, Trem, Reverb and Boost. The White pedal is an old DOD compressor and the red pedal is a Carl Martin Red Repeat which is a 600ms digital delay that is designed to sound analog.įor me this is all the basic food groups. I've posted this photo so many times that I'm afraid guys are going to start throwing rotten fruit at me but I love the sound so much. As for dirt, that 15R will absolutely scream with a little turn of the gain knob. Jefrs, any insight?įor me, I think the Pathfinder 15R is an incredible amp and the analog signal path (even the reverb is spring) makes it the right choice for me in the small amp category. ![]() I'm just not sure if the modeling is the same. There are some folks out here who love the AD-series from Vox and these are guys who's musical opinions I respect. ![]() I think, for me, it comes down to amp modeling. Folks on one of the Vox forums said to stick an EQ pedal in the effects loop, which did help, but my thought was on a $600 amp why should I need the extra equipment? Now I was playing a LP style all mahogany guitar at the time which will be dark, but it even sounded too dark with my strat. Even the models that were traditionally bright amps seemed muddy. I was impressed with the power but could never really bond with that amp because it seemed everything that came out of it was just way too dark. I had a VT100 for a while when playing in a group that played harder styles (think Alterbridge, Day of Fire, Chevelle). Here's what I've experienced with the VT series. ![]()
